Bringing Elm Haven Back to Life

Share Your Thoughts!

Known as Elm Haven, the Elm Village Open Space (the raised growing area above the park on Barker Drive) has been left unkept since Castlehaven Community Association’s licence expired last summer.

The Camden Council is looking for a new organisation to take on the site and run it as a community food growing and wellbeing space. What about Elm Village taking the lead?

EVTRA, together with the Elm Village Garden Society, is putting together a formal licence application. Our deadline is 3 July 2026. We want to restore the site: clearing the weeds, repairing the beds, and bringing it back as a place where residents can grow food, connect with neighbours, and spend enjoyable time outdoors. There’s a practical case too: an unmanaged site adjacent to the estate could increase the risk of nuisance, antisocial behaviour, and general safety concerns, which would not be in anyone’s interest.

You can read our draft proposal here.

We’d love to hear your thoughts and we need your support. The Camden Council wants to see that this matters to residents. Please take a moment to fill in the form below for your backing. If you’d also like to get involved, whether on the steering committee or as a volunteer on site, even better!

Thank you!
