The elm trees above (common elm and wych elm) are reproduced from Trees in Britain by S.R. Badmin (1946. Puffin Picture Book No. 31. Harmondsworth: Penguin Books). Permission sought.

EVTRA exists to represent the interests of residents in Elm Village in Camden, London, NW1, vis-à-vis  Places for People, Camden Council and other relevant local organizations (Elm Village consists of the
properties belonging to the housing association Places for People in Barker Drive, Bergholt Mews, Blakeney Close and Rossendale Way).

EVTRA is formally recognised by Places for People as the body that represents residents who have some form of legal or commercial relationship with PfP.

The association holds an annual meeting and produces an occasional newsletter which is distributed to members in the above streets and to residents at 44 St Pancras Way. Joint meetings with residents in other parts of Elm Village have been held but no such meeting has taken place for some years. The joint meetings were also attended by representatives from the police, Camden Council and other local organizations.

What EVTRA does (or doesn't) do

The Secretary of EVTRA receives a steady flow of information and invitations, mainly from Camden Council and Places for People, which may be relevant to many residents. However, the Committee has too few members for all these items to be dealt with as we might wish.

The EVTRA plan

The EVTRA plan is therefore now as follows:

1) Residents will be notified about information received on the noticeboard, in the newsletter, on the web site or by e-mail (register your interest with the Secretary).

2) The main point of information received, any invitations to attend meetings and a contact address will be provided. Interested residents can then follow the matter up.

3) The Secretary will keep original documents that are too long to put on the noticeboard or web site. He will provide a photocopy of short documents on application. Residents can request longer documents from the contact address.

We hope that in this way residents will be kept well informed and aware of the many initiatives being taken in the borough. We also hope that some residents will be able to contribute to the community by taking on activities that interest them.

See the News page for recent information affecting Elm Village residents, including dates for your diary. See the Newsletters page for recent newsletters and for a list of useful contacts (police, Council, etc.). The Camden page lists information and contact numbers/addresses for recommended tradespeople, security and Camden Council services. Photos taken by resident John Murphy are also on our web site, at Village photos.  The Garden Society page was added in April 2010.
