Thanks to all residents and guests who made it another rapturous Carols at the Con evening. Thanks also to the owners and staff of the Constitution for hosting us once again.
It was hinted at the AGM that this year’s carol event might be absent one of its traditional highlights. However, we were spared disappointment when Ed took to the floor once more for his effervescent rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas. Thanks, Ed.
We were also treated to 30 minutes of Hazel & The Heartwarmers (aka Ed and Hazel) playing a selection of blues and bossa accompanied by a drum machine that was, on occasion, determined to do its own thing.
On Tuesday 25 October Sounds Like are giving a reading to launch the Kindle publication of A World Ago by Maria Camara.
THE BOOK: Maria Camara is a modern woman with a car and a smartphone. But her early years were spent in a Madeira village where life was little different from that of the first settlers who went there in 1420. This is the fascinating and human story of that time in her life . Among the chapters are: Mozambique, Bread and Wine, Children’s games and stories, A Mind Diseas’d
(Googling Maria Camara A World Ago should bring up the relevant page) Price is £2.95.
Elm Village interest: Maria has worked as a cleaner in the village for 25 years. Jan North has sung at our Christmas event for some years. Kevin Drake is as former resident and Frances and Ed Lee still live here.
Location: Constitution Cellar doors open 6.30 Guitar music by Kevin Drake. Reading starts at 7pm. The show lasts just under one hour. Admission is free. You don’t have to buy drinks, but they are on sale at the bar and the Con would welcome the custom.
You don’t have to commit yourself but it would be helpful to know if you will definitely be/not be there, as space is limited.
The Camley Street Autumn Harvest Party is this Friday 16 September from 5-8pm at Alara Wholefoods, 110-112 Camley Street, and you are invited.
As well as gathering around a blazing autumn bonfire with neighbours, free food and live music – there will information from the Camley Street Neighbourhood Forum on the progress of the neighbourhood plan (remember all those questionnaires you filled in?) which is now ready to submit to Camden for approval. Copies of the latest version of the plan available to read and (hopefully) some graphics to show what the area would look like if the plan was fully implemented.
This year the party is hosted by Alara Wholefoods at 110-112 Camley Street with additional sponsorship by IMS of Smithfield and Daily Fish Supplies from Cedar Way.
Please join us at our AGM on Friday 26th August 7 – 8 pm, in the Constitution Cellar 42 St Pancras Way, London NW1 0QT. It’s your chance to raise issues and provide feedback about living in Elm Village. You’ll hear updates from fellow resident volunteers about what’s going on in and around our community.
The agenda for the meeting and Minutes of AGM 2015 can be found in our Documents section.
