Chefs from Moro (www.moro.co.uk) will be there to cook the gardeners' produce and their own. Soft drinks will be provided.Garden Society meetings, 24 April and 8 May 2010 A Garden Society meeting is scheduled for Saturday April 24th, starting at 11:00 a.m., in the greenhouse (large triangle). Planting will start after the meeting and those attending are asked to bring £15 with them. The meeting will deal with elections and with the updated version of the rules of use (Rules_of_use_v.1.5). By the time of the meeting on 8 May the builders should have completed their work on the southern canal site, so gardening there can begin then, all being well. Payment for the plot (£20 for water plus club membership of £5) will be due at this meeting, with an absolute cut-off for 2010 late payments by Friday 24th May. Gardening course in greenhouse Work has been completed on the greenhouse and it has been handed over by the builders (though they will still be finishing off their work in various places). A gardening course will be held in the greenhouse at 5:30 on Wednesday April 14th: please use the gate between Nos. 18 and 20 Bergholt Mews to access the area. Message from the Secretary of the Garden Society: As was said in the minutes to the last garden society meeting, Mike Jackson has very generously volunteered to run some training courses for Elm Village residents and that dates and times would be announced later. Well, this is the first such announcement. The first course is going to be held in the new greenhouse, starting at 5:30 this coming Wednesday March 31st. It doesn't really have a title but Mike says it will be about 'getting started in the greenhouse' so I guess "Greenhouse Gardening" is a good headline. Note that the course will now be held in the Garden Centre, mezzanine level and not as previously announced. This course is open to all Elm Village residents, there are no pre-requisites and no need to bring anything with you. Just turn up and join in. The minutes of the Garden Society meeting on 20 March 2010 are available here (Garden_Society_minutes_20100320.pdf), as are the current proposals for running the garden spaces (Garden_Society_proposals_v.1.2.pdf). |
